Artist statement
My works of art are integrated through their conceptual content and minimalized use of materials. I often take benefit of elements like light, colors, motion and electronic gadgets in my sculptures, which make them to be interpreted rather as installations with their surroundings and the involvement of the viewers. I have a multy-layered artistic interest.
I am enthusiastic with the opportunities offered by the latest technological
inventions. I use these innovations sociocritically and in an experimental way
as well. Art and Levitation project: wood; plastic; electro magnet 2005- My most recent project is the result of 5 years of work: an installation applying electro- magnetic levitation. With this particular kinetic sculpture I created a new planet, on which life can be possible to exist. A new planet, with soil, and plants on it, which is set on an orbit around an artificial sun. It is a planet, on which the initial forms of life can be traced, which is an indication of endless human fantasy, as well as destruction. The whole installation features an experiment playing with procreation in laboratory circumstances. This work of art displays a moment of the procedure, whose end is a disaster difficult to avoid. The plants built on the surface are soon going to eat up all the supplies of the planet, which will offset it from its equilibrium. This way it can be interpreted as a model of catastrophe. Levitation is now reality, what is more, a technologically working, and applicable phenomenon. Using it in sculpting, however, can bring up brand new opportunities. According to traditional European approach, sculptures are three dimensional objects, standing on the ground, obeying gravity. Objects floating in the air, refusing to accept gravity as one of the main powers of nature, can be viewed as tools in seeking connection between the material and spiritual worlds. Sculptures stalled on the ground or the ones separated from it but still based on gravity are of essential connection between the soil and the material, in other words they grow out of it. 20th century hanged sculptures symbolise the connection with the sky, and are of metaphisical coherence. This way, floating objects bring on new thoughts and opportunities. Contrast seties: stone; wood; light (led) 2006- In the series built based on contrast, I use raw, natural materials, which are displayed seemingly as they were found, like a driftwood or ashlar. On the surfaces of these, as rasters, the traces of modern technology are to be discovered, like diodes, LED light-effects as well. Colors projected on them by an automatized system, changing periodically bring about motion, and can also symbolize energy. Criticism series: matches; coins; nails 2005- The topic of one of my earlier projects, which makes me think a lot even today, is a reflection to the present era critically and ironically at the same time. It contains mosaic-like reliefs, small in size, made from everyday materials. These are kinds of masks, which reflect the imprints of today, the fragments of everyday life. Some of these works employ interactivity as well. Relax is the title of a sculpture which is made from 21300 pieces of matches, and conveys the feeling of threat opposing its title by the fact that it is inflammable. The color contrast of the red and white matches puts even stronger emphasis on that. The relief Criticism is made from coins, symbolising the exchange of art into money (arts trade) and the fact that artists often ’sell’ themselves as ornament makers or they work for order. The relief titled Mark is made from iron nails, which refers to the millions of impulses which our bodies have, and influence our sensors, and it also hints at the gesture of leaving something behind, which is the result of every creative procedure. The stinging ends of the nails make one think of self-destruction, and problems making life and creation difficult. When seeing this sculpture, people feel forced to put their own hands into the gap, so that they can fill it in, or just to become part of it.

Lebegés a Művészetben sorozat: fa; műanyag; electro-mágnes 2005- Kontraszt sorozat: kő; fa; fény (led) 2006- Kritika sorozat: gyufa;1;2-forintos érmék, vasszeg 2005- Egy korábbi sorozatom témája, mely mai napig foglalkoztat, szintén kritikusan, ironikusan reflektál a korra. Apró, hétköznapi anyagokból, mozaikszerűen készített reliefek. Egyfajta maszkok, melyek a mai kor lenyomatát tükrözik, vagyis a mindennapi élet fragmentumait. Némelyik plasztikánál az interaktivitás is fontos szerepet kap.
